first_imgTN govt provides Rs 50 lakh for World Junior Squash eventChennai, Jul 17 (PTI) The Tamil Nadu government has givenRs 50 lakh towards the conduct of the World Junior SquashChampionship, which is commencing here tomorrow.Chief Minister K Palaniswami presented a cheque for theamount to Tamilnadu Squash Rackets Association President NRamchandran yesterday, an official release said.The fund was given in response to a plea by theassociation, an official release said today.Over 170 participants from 28 countries including hostsIndia, Egypt, Australia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore andScotland, are competing in the tournament being held fromtomorrow till July 29.The release also said Palaniswami inaugurated variousfacilities at the Tamil Nadu Physical Education And SportsUniversity at Melakottaiyur in neighbouring Kancheepuramdistrict.The Chief Minister inaugurated the facilities, constructedat Rs 16.03 crore, through video-conferencing from here, itadded.
