Police in ‘A’ Division (Georgetown) have arrested three male suspects in relation to the armed robbery of a pastor on Wednesday last.According to reports, the 66-year-old victim of North Haslington, East Coast Demerara was robbed on Church Street, Georgetown shortly after leaving a city bank.The pastor reportedly had $1.8 million in cash in his possession when he left the bank on Wednesday morning heading home. However, while on Church Street, in the vicinity of Carmichael Street, a silver-grey Toyota Spacio reversed into the rear of his motor vehicle, PVV 3830.The pastor existed to investigate the damage, and was pounced on by two armed occupants of the said Spacio motor car. The perpetrators assaulted the man before grabbing the parcel containing the money from inside the victim’s vehicle.According to the Police, the vehicle allegedly used by the perpetrators, together with a pair of false number plates and a part of the stolen cash, has been recovered.Additionally, one of the suspects has since admitted to the crime, and has implicated others. Police say that stringent efforts are being made to apprehend one of the implicated ones.Moreover, a search of one of the suspects’ homes on the West Bank of Demerara has resulted in the arrest of six persons. Three males and three females have been taken into custody after a total of 299 grams of cannabis were found in the house.Investigations are in progress.
