That’s why local heating and cooling businesses continue to operate while taking precautions. BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Whether this spring throws sun and warmth or snow and cold at us, it’s important that the heat and air conditioning is functioning. “It’s definitely going to be business as usual. If they have any problems, they can call us. We will dispatch technicians out there,” said Holleran. “Our hours are still the same. We have adjusted to the virus. My technicians all have booties, rubber gloves, and masks,” said Auchinachie Vice President Chris Holleran. Along with the typical protective wear, all equipment is cleaned thoroughly. If a major problem does arise though, technicians will still be ready to help make sure you stay comfortable at home during these crazy times. Many get their air conditioning units looked at before the warmth returns, but Auchinachie says there are small steps you can do yourself, so technicians don’t have to be called out. “We spray down all of our tools with bleach and wipe them all down along with the iPad. Everything that the customer may use, we wipe it down before they use it, and we wipe it down after every call,” said Holleran. We’re clearly not done with colder nights just yet, but we’re fast approaching the time of year for AC units to kick back on. “Make sure that the outdoor unit can breathe without any flowers or bushes or trees preventing it. You can also make sure the filters inside your house are clean,” said Holleran.
