The best coaching question in the world

first_img 19SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr If I were to give unsolicited advice to anyone who wants to be a better coach, the best thing I could tell them, ironically enough, is that they ought to give less advice and ask more questions. That’s my coaching mantra in a nutshell. Say less, ask more. And if I had to narrow in and offer the best coaching question in the world, it would be the AWE question: And what else? These three words are so simple, but you’d be surprised at their effect. Asking “And what else?” keeps you quiet (thereby providing less advice) and encourages your employee to come up with more—more ideas, more (and hopefully better) possibilities and options. Better options influence better decisions, and better decisions lead to greater success. The AWE question works as a boost in most coaching conversations. continue reading »last_img read more

first_imgFor those who can’t watch Bears vs. Rams on TV and wish to find the game on the radio, the Chicago call can be heard on Sirius channel 81 and XM channel 225, and the Los Angeles call can be heard on Sirius channel 83 and XM channel 226.MORE: Watch every NFL game and RedZone on DAZN (Canada only)Sunday Night Football TV schedule 2019All “Sunday Night Football” games start at 8:20 p.m. ET.Week 1Sept. 5 (Thur.)Packers at Bears Part of the struggles for both Chicago and LA has been the well-documented and shaky play of their quarterbacks. Yet, the Bears and Rams have reasons to believe Mitchell Trubisky and Jared Goff will perform to par Sunday night.MORE: Full betting preview for Bears vs. RamsTrubisky passed for 3 touchdowns and no interceptions in last week’s win over the Lions, with his 131 passer rating marking the third time in his career he has hit 130 or better. The Bears QB also has a 2-0 record in his only two career road starts against NFC West teams. As for Goff, it’s all about playing at home. The Rams QB has 3,279 passing yards, 23 TDs, 4 INTs and a 106.6 passer rating over his last 10 starts in LA. And as good as Trubisky has been on the road against the NFC West, Goff has been even better at home against the NFC North — as evidenced by his 8 TDs, 0 INTs, 380 yards per game and 143 rating in those two such games.Below is all the info you need to watch Bears vs. Rams on Sunday night, including the TV channels and kickoff time.Who plays on Sunday Night Football tonight?Matchup: Chicago Bears at Los Angeles RamsKickoff time: 8:20 p.m. ETIn our Week 11 NFL picks against the spread and straight-up predictions, Sporting News is split on Sunday night’s game. Below are the explanations for each pick.Pick against the spread: Mitchell Trubisky used the Lions to break out of a massive slump while Jared Goff went deeper into his struggles against the Steelers. The Bears can run the ball on the Rams to make Trubisky comfortable while the Rams face more tough sledding for Todd Gurley and more pressure on Goff. Chicago should have a good fan presence, as well, Sunday night in Los Angeles. Pick: Bears win 23-20.Straight-up prediction: Before the season, anybody could have reasonably stated this Week 11 matchup was a preview of a playoff game in the NFC. It technically still could be, but neither the Bears nor the Rams inspire much optimism. The Bears finally showed some signs of offensive life in their win over the Lions last week, but the Rams, despite some struggles of their own, still have the more trustworthy attack. LA’s defense will get back on track, and coach Sean McVay will scheme his way to enough points for a win. Poor garbage collection by NA municipality

first_imgMore than 5000 households of New Amsterdam, Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) are made to use the single garbage tractor and trailer available by the New Amsterdam Municipality.Municipal Health Inspector Ackloo RamsudhWhat is even more is that the vehicle encounters regular mechanical problem that has resulted in a pile-up of garbage in the country’s oldest town. Bins are overflowing and residents have resorted to disposing of solid waste along road shoulders around the town.In light of the poor service being currently providing, the Environmental Health Department is appealing to residents to have a second garbage receptacle in their yards.Municipal Health Inspector, Ackloo Ramsudh, stated that the department is appreciative of any efforts by individuals who want to take their waste to the dump site at Esplanade. “Those waste that are taken there will be accepted free of charge,” Ackloo told this publication. He noted that it is the department’s desire that they service each household on a weekly basis but because of constraints, it is struggling to maintain even a monthly service: “For example, we have a compactor truck that is not working. We recently acquired a skip bin mechanically-operated tractor that developed some problems also and these are situations that we find are not within our control. We are asking residents to be patient with us.”Meanwhile, skip bins have been placed at perceived strategic locations in the town is to assist with residential waste. “Persons would have been producing waste…building up in their yard and they do not have the means to take it to the Municipal dumpsite. We have noticed that those skip bins are being misused by commercial entities; we have noticed that on some occasions those bins have been set afire and this will eventually damage the metal,” Ramsudh added.Despite being handicapped, the Environmental Health Department is taking a proactive approach to ensure that persons do not use the current situation as an excuse for dumping their waste on the street.“One of the interventions that the Municipality has taken is to inspect the yards of persons and to ensure that they have a receptacle to collect their waste and if those persons do not have a receptacle then those persons will be fined. We recognize that persons who do not have a receptacle are the persons who are responsible for littering indiscriminately,” the Health Inspector stated. The fine will start at $3000 for first-time offenders after they would have been given a written warning.last_img read more

Bits n Pieces Burgers fuel charity bike ride

first_imgTheir hunger to give back rivals their hunger for burgers. Two longtime friends are training for a 48-mile charity bike ride on July 19, where they plan to stop at every Burgerville — and there are 11 — in Clark County. The plan started as an ongoing joke between 31-year-olds Matt Wastradowski and Dusty Hartshorn, who realized they shared a love for the local fast-food chain after meeting in 2002, when they worked at the former Fred Meyer on Fourth Plain Boulevard.“For the longest time we’ve joked about going to every Burgerville in Clark County in one day,” said Wastradowski, a former Columbian staffer. “We realized it was doable.”But that wasn’t enough for the pair. They wanted the trip to mean something more than an excuse to nosh on pepper bacon cheeseburgers and Walla Walla sweet onion rings. Wastradowski bought a bike earlier this year to prepare for the annual Bike MS Willamette Valley ride in August, so he and Hartshorn decided they would turn their Burgerville journey into a charity ride to raise money for the Oregon and Southwest Washington chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. They’ll still be chowing down, of course.“Up until last weekend, I’ve never ridden a bike more than 8 miles in a day,” Wastradowski said. “It’ll be a challenge for me. This is unlike anything I’ve ever done and I couldn’t be more excited for it.”last_img read more
