He’s also attracted plenty of NFL attention.Campbell was reportedly contacted by the New York Jets for their head coaching vacancy this offseason, but declined to interview. However, the Jets apparently were not the only team to send interest Campbell’s way.Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register reports that six franchises reached out to Campbell.According to a person with direct knowledge of the situation, six NFL teams reached out to Campbell during this most recent NFL hiring cycle. Campbell declined to comment on which teams may have been interested in an interview in Tuesday’s interview, but the New York Jets were one team that reportedly had interest. Campbell did not pursue that opening. If Birch’s report is correct, that means nearly all of the teams that hired a new head coach were intrigued by Campbell. Eight franchises hired a new front man during this latest cycle. They were the Jets, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals.Campbell agreed to an extension in December that aims to keep him at ISU through 2024. The new deal also provided an additional $1 million to spend on assistant coaches.Campbell is 54-34 as a collegiate head coach, including a 35-15 mark at Toledo from 2011-15.
