Quinn family has 5 of Anglo Tapes but didnt leak them

first_imgSEAN QUINN has denied accusations that his family leaked taped recordings of phone conversations within Anglo Irish Bank — although they do have some in their possession. In an interview with The Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk, the former billionaire dismissed the accusation that he supplied the now-infamous Anglo Tapes to the Irish Independent, Sunday Independent, and Sinn Féin, claiming he “never saw the tapes”.Responding to whether the Quinns came across further tapes in the process of discovery during litigation, he said they have “5 per cent of the tapes that are going to be available”.Quinn said that while the tapes which have been released to date ‘show a disrespect for the law’, further tapes will contain discussions between Anglo Irish Bank, the Department of Finance, and the Financial Regulator regarding himself. He said that the conversation on the tapes will go something like this: “What we are going to do about Sean Quinn? Where are the board meetings here? Where’s this? Where’s that?”He added: “The tapes are of very little interest to me and the family, because the tapes are at the small end of where we’re going.“Where the family are going is.. is much deeper than that, so the tapes are only on the periphery.”Anglo Tapes: “No smoking gun” says Central Bank boss >Rewind: A look at what the Anglo Tapes have meant for Ireland >last_img read more
